Joey Swinkey is a music educator and resident of East Lansing, Michigan. Originally from Ida, Michigan, he is a recent graduate of Michigan State University's College of Music. Mr. Swinkey began his formal music experiences in the fifth grade, when he began playing trumpet in his middle school band. Since then, his musical experiences have included five years of extensive performances with the MSU concert and marching bands, private study with Trumpet gurus Rich Illman and Justin Emerich, and a lengthy sojourn into the vocal arts. His numerous experiences in both instructional and informal musical communities have fueled his passion for igniting the musical potential in every student. Armed with several guitars, plenty of coffee, and a diverse and culturally relevant curriculum, Mr. Swinkey aims to inspire the inner musician in every student. |
